Open Science Coffee

The HvA and UvA often conduct research together with companies and government organizations. These organizations often protect their data due to their economic value, impact on security or privacy.
The researchers will only have access to the data if they handle it responsibly. It must be clear who has access to the data and under which conditions. Research on these data take place on properly secured systems and often they are agreements as to whether or not specific information may be published. It is not always “Open Science”. Maurice Pelt discusses the role of Non Disclosure Agreements, Data Management Plans, algorithms to blur faces, data aggregation and Virtual Research Environments.
